School of Anthropology organised a sensitization programme on July 1, 2024, titled "Awareness Drive to Eliminate Sickle Cell Disease" in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross, GMU and Sickle Cell Research Centre, VIMSAR and CPMU and NUHM, Sambalpur.
An invited Lecture was organised by School of Anthropology, Gangadhar Meher University, on March 28, 2024. Prof. Bishnu Charan Barik, Former Vice Chancellor, Sambalpur University delivered a talk on "Socio-cultural Life of Bonda". The talk was attended by Honourable Vice Chancellor N. Nagaraju and more than 50 students with faculty members of School of Anthropology.
A three day workshop was organized in collaboration with school of history on the titled “Introduction for Pre-historic Archaeology from 29th October to 31st October,2022. The event was attained by more than 150 students from both history and anthropology Department. Students were exposed to different pre historic tools and technique. This unique programme was coordinated and delivered by an expert team headed by formal deputy director general of Archeological survey of India.
An invited lecture was delivered by Prof Jagannath was held on 20th Jan 2022 at LG1 of GMU. The talk was presided by Honorable Vice chancellor N. Nagaraju during his talk he lucidly made the students to understand the journey of anthropology from evolutionism to post modernism.
Post Congress jointly organized by Sambalpur University and Gangadhar Meher University successfully completed with inaugural function at SU and Valedictory at GMU. At GMU we are delighted to listen Dr. Amitav Pandey Sir as keynote speaker followed by 5 plenary lecture in two sessions by Stalwarts of Anthropology Prof. P. C. Joshi, Prof. K. K. Mishra, Prof. Vijoy Sahaya, Prof. Subrata Bagchi and Prof. P. Panda and Valedictory speech by Prof. Jagannath Dash sir. More than seventy research papers were presented in different panel session and the an Exhibition entitled Human Evulution and traditional Wisdom exhibited at GMU with collaboration with Anthropological survey of India and Archaeological Survey of India. More than 300 school children from different public and local govt. Schools have visited and explained about different facets of Anthropology.
A two-day national webinar was organized by the School of Anthropology, Gangadhar Meher University during 25th and 26th February 2021, on the topic "Recent Trends in Anthropology". Prof. A. K. Kapoor, former Vice Chancellor of Jiwaji University, Gwalior and Prof. K. ?. Mishra, Former Vice Chancellor, Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar were the resource persons of the 2nd day webinar.
The School of Anthropology, Gangadhar Meher University, Sambalpur organized a virtual lecture series on 31 August, 2020. Prof. Vijoy S. Sahay (Emeritus Fellow), Former Head and Professor of Department of Anthropology, Allahabad University delivered a wonderful lecture on the topic "Is Indian Anthropology at Crossroads Today?
A virtual lecture series was organized by the School of Anthropology, Ganagadhar Meher University on 30th August 2020. Dr. Debendra Kumar Biswal, Assistant Professor, Centre for Tribal and Customary Law, Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi was invited as the resource person who delivered a lecture on the topic entitled "Anthropogenic Factors in Agricultural Injury and Farmer's Suicide in Western Odisha".
